High Arches - Stringing Method 8

Do you have shoes with 5, 7, or 9 eyelets and do you notice that they are often too tight on your instep? The "High Arches" lacing method offers extra support in exactly the right place, so that your shoes fit better on your foot. This technique works perfectly in combination with elastic laces, so that your shoes fit comfortably without pressure on the instep.

Step 1

Place the shoe with the toe towards you. Thread the lace through the first eyelets from the outside in. Then pull the laces crosswise from the inside out through the eyelets on the other side.

Step 1 of the High Arches lacing method, laces are threaded through the first eyelets from the outside in.

Step 2

Take one side of the lace and thread it from the outside in through the eyelet directly above the hole where the lace comes from. Then continue to the eyelet above that and pull the lace from the inside out.

Step 2 of the High Arches lacing method, laces are threaded from the outside in through the eyelet directly above the previous one.

Step 3

Repeat step 2 on the other side of the shoe. This ensures that the laces are evenly distributed over the high instep, which provides extra support without pressure points.

Step 3 of the High Arches lacing method, laces are laced on the opposite side of the shoe for even distribution.

Step 4

Cross the laces again from the outside in through the eyelets on the opposite side, so that the ends point outwards. This helps to distribute the tension evenly and ensures a stable fit.

Step 4 of the High Arches lacing method, laces are threaded crosswise from outside to inside through the eyelets on the opposite side.

Step 5

Repeat this pattern once more by again crossing the laces from the outside in. This increases stability and ensures a comfortable fit.

Step 5 of the High Arches stringing method, the pattern is repeated for extra stability.

Step 6

Finish the method by lacing the laces crosswise, again this time from the outside in. You can then secure the ends with the standard lacing as described on our tutorials page .

Step 6 of the High Arches lacing method, the laces are laced crosswise and secured with a lace closure.

Finishing for elastic laces

For elastic laces, use a twist cap to secure the ends. More information about the different types of lace closures can be found on our website.
