The "Sawtooth 2" lacing method offers an alternative way to create a zigzag pattern on your shoes and is particularly suitable for shoes with 6 or 8 holes. This method combines a striking design with a secure fit. Follow the steps below to apply this method to your shoes.
Step 1
Place the shoe with the toe towards you. On one side, put both ends of the lace through the first eyelet and then directly through the second eyelet above that.
Step 2
Take the end of the first lace and pull it diagonally to the opposite eyelet, threading it from the outside in.
Step 3
Repeat step 2 with the other end of the lace. Also pull this diagonally to the eyelet on the other side, from the outside in. This creates the beginning of the zigzag pattern.
Step 4
If you did it right, the pattern should now look like the picture. The zigzag pattern is starting to take shape.
Step 5
Insert the lower lace ends diagonally into the next free eyelet on the other side of the shoe. This continues the zigzag pattern.
Step 6
Repeat step 5 with the other lace end, also inserting it diagonally into the next free eyelet on the other side of the shoe.
Step 7
Now take the end of the lace again and insert it directly opposite into the free eyelet on the other side of the shoe. This keeps the pattern symmetrical and tight.
Step 8
Do the same with the other end of the lace, by also inserting it directly opposite into the free eyelet.
Step 9
Now repeat the same pattern: insert the laces diagonally from the inside to the outside into the next two free eyelets on one side of the shoe. This continues the zigzag pattern.
Step 10
When you are done, the end result should look like the picture. You have now created a zigzag pattern. Now follow the instructions on our tutorials page to tie your laces in the desired way, depending on whether you purchased elastic laces.
Finishing for elastic laces
For elastic laces, use a twist cap to secure the ends. More information about the different types of lace closures can be found on our website.
